Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
critically analyse the characteristics of Australia's social welfare system in relation to welfare regimes internationally
critically reflect on the historical treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia's welfare system and implications for decolonisation, cultural safety and anti-oppressive practice
critically reflect on own background and the learning needed to become an effective social worker in the Australian context
demonstrate critical thinking, critical analysis and critical reflection as appropriate for postgraduate study in social work
