Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
apply knowledge to demonstrate proficiency in the use of common anaesthetic and analgesic drugs, including their effects, indications, contraindications, and considerations for dose adjustments
apply knowledge to demonstrate proficiency in understanding pain physiology and pathophysiology, including the neurobiology of pain, pain assessment techniques, and the impact of pain on animal well-being
apply knowledge of general anaesthesia principles to effectively and safely perform general anaesthesia procedures in common veterinary species under supervision while engaging in reflective practice.
apply knowledge to demonstrate proficiency in applying the principles of fluid therapy to common veterinary patients through practical experiences and case-based learning.
