Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

proficiently and confidently, with minimal supervision, perform a range of animal husbandry and handling techniques on animal species commonly seen in veterinary practice

apply knowledge of appropriate husbandry and management practices, and production cycles, to describe and assess strategies that support optimal welfare, production, and health outcomes for the variety of species commonly encountered in veterinary practice

apply knowledge of biosecurity to describe and assess appropriate protocols for common animal systems encountered in veterinary practice

apply knowledge of animal husbandry and preventive health programs to describe and implement appropriate practices for the variety of species commonly encountered in veterinary practice while engaging in reflective practice.
