Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

apply knowledge of surgical theatre processes to plan the selection, preparation and set-up of surgical equipment and theatre for commonly performed veterinary surgeries.

apply knowledge of sterility and aseptic techniques to ensure infection control in surgical equipment and theatre zone

demonstrate proficiency in the assessment, positioning, and aseptic preparation of patients for surgery

illustrate through proficient communication to clients the importance of oral health and employ dental prophylactic treatments in a safe and ethical manner.
