Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

use organisational theories to analyse social work organisations and management

explain important organisational issues involved in social work practice, including relationships with management, and the need for effective communication within and across organisations

critically reflect on the role social workers can take in leading and facilitating organisational change, particularly in order to promote social justice

critically reflect on ethical issues involved in organisational practice for workers and clients and demonstrate collaborative (team/group) work skills
