Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

apply foundational concepts in electricity and circuits, including the application of Coulomb's law, Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's voltage law, and Kirchhoff's current law, to analyse and solve electrical circuit problems effectively

apply knowledge of electricity and circuits to solve simple industry-related problems

examine how the properties of electricity and circuits influence and inspire emerging trends in semiconductor technology and its diverse application

perform, analyse, and report on experiments involving electrostatics, capacitors, circuit construction, AC and DC circuits, semiconductors, bipolar junction transistors, rectifiers, converters, and the Hall effect, demonstrating a thorough understanding of their principles and applications in practical scenarios.
