Enrolment information
This unit is triple-weighted and includes placement. Students should not enrol in any other units at the same time. This unit contains Work Integrated Learning (WIL) activities that require students to meet mandatory fit to practice obligations prior to attending. Failure to comply by the fit to practice deadline will result in the cancellation of your WIL activity. Full details are available at www.scu.edu.au/healthplacements. Students will likely have to travel away from their local area and placements are located anywhere in Australia. Students are required to support themselves financially (including accommodation, travel and living expenses) during placements.
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
apply an ethical approach to professional practice and clinical/professional reasoning whilst demonstrating the use of client-centred practice, evidence-based practice, professional problem solving, initiative and self-direction
demonstrate a high level of competence in all areas of occupational therapy practice as specified in the Australian Occupational Therapy Competency Standards
actively participate as an integral team member whilst demonstrating effective assessment and interventions in direct client care, case management, project management or consultancy
demonstrate well developed verbal and written communication skills with clients, stakeholders and staff
