    The content and assessment for this unit develops specific academic research methodologies that provide a framework for understanding the factors influencing the historical development of global musical cultures.


Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

identify and describe key stylistic features of a variety of musical examples from disparate global musical cultures

research specific theoretical concepts relating to the evolution of contemporary global musical cultures

analyse a range of historical and cross-cultural research perspectives relating to changing nature of global contemporary music practice

construct a research framework for understanding the complex process of transformation occurring within the international music industry.
