Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

describe and critically discuss the structure of the Papua New Guinean legal system, and how laws are made and developed, using negligence as an example

demonstrate a basic understanding of legislation and case law relevant to business and commerce, and of the interrelationship between law and ethics

apply the fundamental principles of the laws relating to the creation, construction, and discharge of contracts, to solve contractual problems in business and commerce

apply the fundamental principles of the laws relating to negligence, consumer protection and agency to solve common legal problems encountered in business and commerce.
