Pre-requisites
Completed the equivalent of 19 law units (228 credit points) in the Bachelor of Laws (or associated double degree), including: LAWS2013 - Civil Litigation and Procedure, LAWS2016 - Evidence AND LAWS2008 - Criminal Procedure.

Not available for students admitted to the Associate Degree in Law (Paralegal Studies) or Bachelor of Legal and Justice Studies.

Enrolment information
This unit requires attendance, for all students, at a compulsory two-day residential school held on the Gold Coast campus. Students who demonstrate that attending the residential will cause hardship may apply to the Unit Assessor for an exemption and attend online.
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
critically analyse the principles and concepts of legal ethics and apply them to the practice of law
apply critical judgment and research to legal issues and challenges in the area of legal professional conduct
demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to legal audiences
demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the body of law relevant to legal professional practice.
