Pre-requisites
Students in the Bachelor of Laws, Associate Degree in Law (Paralegal Studies) and Bachelor of Legal and Justice Studies must have completed LEGL1001 - Legal Research and Writing; AND LEGL1005 - Legal Process OR LEGL1004 - Australian Legal System; Business students must have completed LEGL1003 - Introduction to Business Law.
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
explain, apply and evaluate the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity and work health and safety and explain their importance in the workplace
recognise discriminatory behaviours in the workplace, and apply accurately and evaluate the legal principles related to discrimination and Equal Opportunity, as enacted in Federal laws in legislation and case law
recognise health and safety risks at work
apply accurately and evaluate the legal principles related to work health and safety and workers compensation, as enacted in NSW laws in legislation and case law.
