Unit Snapshot

  • Enrolment information

    The purpose of work integrated learning is to apply knowledge and skills from the current degree to the work placement. As such advanced standing for prior work experience will not be considered for this unit. Please note that Hotel Internship A is a double-weighted advanced unit and should only be attempted towards the end of your course.

  • Enrolment restriction

    All internship positions will need to be approved by the Unit Assessor. A Notice of Placement form is required PRIOR to commencing the internship. Students enrolling in both Hotel Internship A and Hotel Internship B will need to submit a request for further Unit Assessor approval.


Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

Explain the nature, scope, breadth and variety of employment in your chosen sector

Demonstrate capability and willingness to undertake a range of duties required for employment in hospitality settings

Apply concepts and principles of business management appropriate to the requirements of the work environment in a hotel setting

Critically evaluate the skills and attitudes required for success as a manager or supervisor in the hotel sector
