Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
describe current and emerging tools and methods to manage the engineering design process
employ industry-standard computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce a basic drawing to communicate an engineering design using established design requirements
use CAD to produce detailed plans, sections and models and perform design calculations relevant to your engineering specialisation
create a simple model using 3D CAD and 3D printing
apply standard conventions, such as orthogonal views, dimensions, tolerances, limits, and fits, when creating detailed engineering drawings while ensuring compliance with AS1100 standards
create complex engineering drawings using advanced features, such as geometric tolerancing, surface texture, and welding annotations.
