* This unit is normally offered in 5 week blocks throughout the year. Students may enrol in 5 to 50 weeks depending on their English language proficiency on entry and the level aimed for at completion.
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of a range of academic text types (spoken and written).
Use a range of appropriate vocabulary, expressions and grammatical structures in extended speech and writing.
Use a range of self-management strategies for successful learning.
Use a range of academic literacy practices related to text ownership and authorship.
Use a range of digital literacy tools and practices to appropriately access, assess and disseminate on-line information.
