* This unit is normally offered in 5 week blocks throughout the year. Students may enrol in 4 to 50 weeks depending on their English language proficiency on entry and the level aimed for at completion. This unit is only available to International students only on the approval of SCU College and SCU International. Students cannot self-manage enrolment.
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of a range of spoken and written texts
Use a range of functional vocabulary to communicate ideas in speech and writing
Use a range of grammatical structures (simple present, past, future aspect) to communicate ideas in speech and writing
Sustain simple spoken and written communicative exchanges with other speakers of English, share information, request information and signal opinions
