Unit of Study EDUC7012 Leadership and Governance (2024)

Unit description

Candidate's may have had to demonstrate service to the University, their profession and/or the broader community as a leader, committee member or other formal role requiring leadership skills and knowledge and application of governance practices that contribute to the effective functioning of the chosen organisation/s, as part of their Higher Degree Research (HDR) program.   Examples of such participation include: i. HDR Candidate member of Academic Board, Faculty Board, Higher Degree Research Committee (HDRC). ii. Office bearing role in Southern Cross Postgraduate Association (SCPA). iii. Member of a conference organising committee. iv. Committee member for a professional society. v. Organising committee of major community event. vi. University Tutor (ANSCO level 1). vii. Completion of formal leadership training program. viii. Sports Development Officer (ANSCO level 2). ix. Conducting and/or being musical director of a choir or theatre group.

Unit content

Candidate's will need to demonstrate knowledge and skills of leadership and governance, and the ability to apply these attributes through participatory service to one or more professional, community or cultural organisations: e.g. the University, their profession, a community, cultural or educational organisation.
