Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

demonstrate a working knowledge of the concepts and content of at least two NSW Stage 6 Syllabus or Australian Curriculum Year 11 and 12 subject areas and critically discuss a range of contemporary perspectives and issues on the teaching of Science in senior school

demonstrate knowledge of syllabus key competencies, objectives and outcomes, that reflect a well-developed ability to plan for effective learning for students from diverse backgrounds and a range of abilities

develop effective teaching and learning activities to integrate literacy and numeracy strategies and source and assess the appropriateness of resources (including ICT) that link to informed and effective teaching and learning across the Science Stage 6 syllabus or Australian Curriculum Year 11 and 12

demonstrate an understanding of professional practice by applying suitable laboratory safety including OH&S management, control and safety techniques, especially in relation to laboratory and fieldwork
