Unit Snapshot

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

demonstrate a sound knowledge of relevant international, national and state HSIE syllabus and relevant early childhood curriculum requirements

critically examine models of pedagogy, and strategies, for teaching and assessing HSIE from early years to 12 years

motivate children to engage as active citizens, asking questions and making responsible decisions about issues at the personal, local, national, and global level; as well as engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture

plan integrated and learning sequences (and supporting ICT resources), which include a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to cater for diverse learning needs and children’s interests
