Enrolment information
This unit includes 2 full day residentials at the Gold Coast held in a Gold Coast Sport and Recreation Centre. Online students are strongly encouraged to attend the residentials in person for a more immersive experience. The residentials will be held on the Saturday of Week 1 and Week 3. Students to provide own lunch/drink and accommodation arrangements, if required.
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
safely and competently conduct basic educational dance and educational gymnastics experiences for Stage 4 and Stage 5 school students
describe and apply the principles of co-operative learning, peer-assessment and self- assessment within the contexts of this unit's dance and gymnastics learning experiences
discuss the strengths and weaknesses of co-operative learning, peer-assessment and self- assessment for learning and assessment with Stage 4 and 5 students. Discuss the relevance and value of gymnastics and dance education for young people
locate co-operative learning, peer-assessment and self-assessment within the spectrum of teaching styles available to physical education teachers
