Enrolment information
This unit includes 2 full day residentials at the Gold Coast held in a Gold Coast Sport and Recreation Centre. Online students are strongly encouraged to attend the residentials in person for a more immersive experience. The residentials will be held on the Saturday of Week 1 and Week 3. Students to provide own lunch/drink and accommodation arrangements, if required.
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
identify and demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skills relating to the development of lesson plans for teaching aquatics and athletics with appropriate curriculum links
apply effective methodology for instruction of aquatics and athletics in the school context
critically analyse teacher-directed and self-directed learning approaches and reflect on their value in the teaching context
apply the principles of teacher-directed and self-directed learning approaches to various physical education contexts.
