    All students are required to meet compulsory participation requirements to pass the unit. Online students must attend a 3 day on-campus residential.


Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

demonstrate a sound theoretical and clinical understanding of a specific counselling modality

apply a range of introductory, modality-specific counselling skills, according to professional codes of conduct and ethical principles

demonstrate and appropriately apply a range of foundational counselling skills within counselling sessions

evaluate and constructively critique and reflect on the process of counselling, including their own professional practice
