Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

recognise the developmental stages in both children and adolescents

identify and appropriately select from a range of individual and group therapies suitable for use with children and adolescents

identify ethical and legal issues when working with children and adolescents

apply counselling skills required for working with children and adolescents, recognising appropriate and inappropriate application of those skills
