    All students are required to meet compulsory participation requirements to pass the unit. Online students must attend a 3 day on-campus residential.


Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

demonstrate theoretical understanding of different approaches to group work and the application of these approaches to diverse and specific populations

apply various theoretical frameworks in the context of specific group facilitation processes and settings

design a sample component of a group program which effectively addresses a specific mental health or relational issue for a specific client group

evidence a coherent understanding of contemporary group process, group dynamics, and group norms
