Enrolment information
The unit includes an intensive with off campus activities. Participants will be provided with relevant information and training prior to the commencement of the field trip to ensure important health and safety aspects have been conveyed to participants. The real-time road trip is only suitable for those students with the resources and interest to travel. Travel will be kept to a minimum, but will be at the student's own expense. Students unable to participate in real-time travel will have the option to undertake a virtual trip. A condition of enrolment is adherence to the unit requirements prior to departure: (1) assignment 1 must be submitted and completed to a satisfactory standard; (2) emergency contacts/pre-existing health conditions and medication use must be submitted to the Faculty by the specified due date; (3) commitment to follow the SCU policy on code of conduct and safety advice as outlined in the unit guidebook.
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
demonstrate an ethical sense of social responsibility and citizenship
employ skills of field observation, recording, self-reflection, questioning and analysis
analyse how historical and/or environmental factors have shaped the community
understand how the history of a place is represented to the public
