Arriving here was like a big thing for me because  my home country is really far from here. It took
me two days to get here. I actually love the  environment of the uni and I was amazed by the big
structure of the buildings, the serene environment  and the friendly people. I was welcomed warmly.
The support from Southern Cross University  definitely has been outstanding. I have
personally used counseling at times  when I felt homesick and also very
overwhelmed in understanding the Australian  setting and I have also used support like
international advisor to figure out my course. My role is to take care of international
students welfare, so that's two sides, that's  their academic welfare, make sure that they
understand how to perform at Southern Cross  University and get through our education system,
and the other side is their personal welfare.  So for example if they have an incident here
or they have any concerns or any  personal problems, I help them with that.
At the beginning, as an international student,  it's definitely very overwhelming and I feel I
was really supported by the people at Southern  Cross University because not only my lecturers,
also my international study advisor,  also my friends from all over the world.
Our staff as well are from all over the world,  so we have a very strong understanding of the
particular needs and different cultures that come  in and how to help them and how to deal uniquely
with the specific concerns of each individual.  What makes Southern Cross' international support
unique is the amount of support we give to each  individual student. We do focus very much on
individual support, which a lot of big public  universities can't do. So we spend a lot of time
with students that's one-to-one maybe it's a  welfare concern or it's an academic concern
we get to know the students very well, we get  to know them throughout the life cycle. The
access to the support service is exceptional. It's okay to ask for help when you need it.

Does Access25 include any domestic courses that international students can enrol in?
Yes, the domestic full fee tuition fees for the SCU Online MBA, SCU Online Grad Dip Business, M Prof Accounting and Grad Dip Accounting courses have also changed to $25,000 per annum.

Why are the Masters of Nursing and Bachelor of Vet Tech courses excluded from Access25?
The M Nursing is full for 2025 and therefore excluded. The B Vet Tech is excluded as the tuition fees cannot be lower than the $32,075 per annum mandated by the Australian Government.

Does the fee change apply to all international students, including the non-student visa holders?
Yes, the change will apply to all international students which includes student visa holders and non-student visa (NSV) holders.

What happens to accepted/admitted international students with scholarships for 2025 as they may need to pay more under Access25?
International students who are already accepted/admitted for 2025 will receive a credit on their student account ensuring they do not pay more than their original offer and be financially disadvantaged. Note: the credit will be based on the original approved published 2025 fees. We are aware only some students with $8,000 scholarships will be impacted.

For international students studying fewer than 8 units a year (e.g. received advanced standing), do they still pay $25,000 annually?
No, these international students will be charged pro-rata (as it happens now). The $25,000 tuition fees are based on a standard 8 units (96 credit points) and pro-rated if the student studies fewer units in the year of enrolment.

Will scholarships continue for Bachelor of Vet Tech students?
No, international scholarships will no longer be offered, and if offered and not yet accepted, withdrawn on the revised offer letter. Most international students will pay less on Access25 than on a scholarship.

Are Study Abroad or English courses included in Access25?
No, they are not included.

What happens to the fees for current international students who do not hold any scholarships?
These international students will move to the new fee structure in 2025.

How much deposit is required to accept the offer?
For onshore and offshore intending international student visa holders, the deposit to accept will generally be 4 units (first course) and $5,000 (second course) with possible exceptions for some high risk markets. For all non-student visa (NSV) holders, the deposit to accept will be $6,000 (first course) and $2,000 (second course).

I will start my studies in 2025 and I have accepted my course offer with a scholarship. How much credits will I get?
Students who accepted a $5,000 or $6,000 scholarship and some students who accepted a $8,000 scholarship will pay the same or less fees on Access25. Some students who accepted a $8,000 scholarship will pay more under Access25, and the University will provide a credit on their student account so that they do not have to.

If you are affected, the credit you will receive is the estimated difference between the (a) the previously approved 2025 annual fees less the $8,000 scholarship, and (b) your new Access25 fees prorated. The credit will be based on the number of 12cp subjects you have left to complete as at 1 January 2025 minus any previously failed units. The credit will be paid twice a year, in March and September, and is contingent on the student being enrolled for each half year period (i.e. we cannot apply a credit to a student who is not enrolled).
For example, Carol has accepted her Graduate Diploma of Education in Early Childhood course offer with a $8,000 scholarship and will start the course in Term 1, 2025. The tuition fees for 2025 was $31,520 and Carol expects to pay $23,520 after the $8,000 scholarship is applied. Under Access25, Carol will be charged $25,000 per annum which is $1,480 more than she has accepted. Therefore the University will provide a $1,480 credit into Carol’s student account in 2025 after she enrols. This credit will be paid in two instalments of $740 in March 2025 and in September 2025.

I am a continuing student with a scholarship and I will re-enrol in 2025. How will my credits be calculated?
The credit you will receive is the estimated difference between the (a) the previously approved 2025 annual fees less the $8,000 scholarship, and (b) your new Access25 fees prorated. If Access25 means you pay less fees, you will not get a credit. If you need to pay more tuition fees on Access25, your credit will be based on the number of 12cp subjects you have left to complete as at 1 January 2025 minus any previously failed units. The credit will be paid twice a year, in March and September, and is contingent on the student being enrolled for each half year period (i.e. we cannot apply a credit to a student who is not enrolled).

For example, Adrian has a $8,000 scholarship for his Bachelor of Business course at SCU. On 01 Jan 2025, Adrian has passed 15 subjects and failed 1 subject. He has 9 more subject to pass before he graduates. The tuition fees for 2025 was $32,520 and Adrian expects to pay $24,520 after the $8,000 scholarship is applied for the remaining 8 subjects. Under Access25, Adrian will be charged $25,000 per annum which is $480 more than expected. Therefore the University will provide a $480 credit into Adrian’s student account in 2025 after he enrols. The estimates credit to Adrian is based on 8 subjects and does not include the repeat enrolment in the previously failed subject. This credit will be paid in two instalments of $240 in March 2025 and in September 2025.

I have accepted an offer to start at SCU in 2026. Will I get credits?
Unfortunately, we will only be providing credits to students who start in 2025. We believe that your course fees will still represent excellent value for money and hope you will still choose to study with us. If you no longer wish to start with us, we will be sorry to see you go and will provide you with a full refund of prepaid fees.

I no longer wish to commence with SCU because of Access25. Will I get a full refund?
If you no longer wish to start with us, we will be sorry to see you go and will provide you with a full refund of prepaid fees. Before you confirm your withdrawal, come talk to us about why we believe in Access25.

Am I a domestic or international student?

You are a domestic student if you are: an Australian or New Zealand citizen; an Australian permanent visa holder (including permanent humanitarian visa holders). Whether you live within or outside Australia, if you do not meet the above you are an international student. Depending on the course offered, international students may study offshore, online or in Australia on a student visa or other temporary Australian visas.
