Being an HEA mentor
Presenter: Polly Lai, Centre for Teaching and Learning
If you hold HEA Fellowship, we need you! Our mentors will be a vital part of our HEA ecosystem as we grow our community of fellows. Being a HEA mentor means you will be supporting colleagues as they prepare their fellowship applications and directly contributing to their professional development.
In this workshop, Dr Polly Lai will explain the mentorship process and prepare you for taking on your first mentee.
In this workshop, we will answer these questions:
- What are the benefits of being a mentor?
- What are my duties as a mentor?
- What skills do I need to be an effective mentor?
- How many people will I be mentoring at once?
- How is my mentee allocated?
- What is the time commitment?
- How can I get support if there are problems?
- Can mentorship be used in my application for a higher level of fellowship?
