Applying to become an HEA Associate Fellow or Fellow

Presenter: Polly Lai, Centre for Teaching and Learning

This workshop is right for you if you have:

  • a good general understanding of HEA Fellowship and its benefits
  • used the Fellowship Category Decision Tool to determine that Associate Fellow, or Fellow, is the right category for you
  • decided that you are ready to begin the process.

Associate Fellows are either fairly new to teaching, or are in roles with little or no direct teaching that support student learning. Many professional staff will fall into this category.

Fellows are in the early- to mid-career stage and can provide evidence of effectiveness in more substantive teaching and supporting learning roles.

In this workshop, Dr Polly Lai will identify whether associate fellow or fellow is the correct category for you and go through the application process and preparation. Additionally, she will give you an overview of the resources and support available as you prepare your submission.

In this workshop, we will answer these questions:

  • What is the usual timeline of the application process?
  • What steps do I need to go through?
  • Who will be my mentor?
  • What evidence do I need to support my application?
  • How do I reference the standards?
  • What is the format of my application?
  • Can I apply for other categories of Fellowship in the future?

For more information about HEA Fellowship visit the CTL HEA Fellowship webpage.

Audience: All staff.

Please note: Register for this workshop in Scout and the workshop Zoom details will be provided in the Scout confirmation email.

Moderator: Centre for Teaching and Learning team member.
