Cyril Callister was a scientist from regional Victoria who invented Vegemite and Cheese in a can (the beginnings of processed cheese). The Cyril Callister Foundation was established in 2019 to tell the little-known story of the great Australian scientist, celebrate his life, work, and scientific legacy, and establish scholarships designed to assist regional youth, in following in the footsteps of Cyril Callister and studying at university.

How to apply

Each recipient must:

  1. Be enrolled in the Bachelor of Science at Lismore or Gold Coast campus of Southern Cross University.
  2. Be resident in the Northern Rivers (Northern NSW) or on the Southern Gold Coast;

Recipients will be evaluated against:

  1. Evidence in their scholarship statements of a strong passion for science.
  2. Academic performance may be considered.
