We're answering the call for more veterinarians to be graduated. There's a shortage of veterinarians nationally and globally and then in particular that shortage is more acute in regional areas so to produce graduates who want to stay in regional areas it's ideal and preferable to have them come from Regional areas and be educated in the region.
So Southern Cross aims to fill a niche in in the Veterinary world to produce graduates who have that connection with the region so they want to stay in the regions but also we'll be using the particular flavour of Southern Cross University and its research strengths to infuse that into the veterinary curriculum. By that I mean there's a strong focus for example on sustainability, regenerative agriculture, understanding zero waste understanding how production fits with conservation, marine science.
There's many attributes that we can bring to have a particular flavour within the veterinary curriculum and graduates will be very connected to the veterinary profession so we're finding a niche at Southern Cross. The way we teach at Southern Cross is going to be very applicable to enhancing the skills and knowledge of the veterinary students so I feel it's a great environment to produce veterinarians.
