Lismore campus closed for North Coast COVID lockdown

The closure follows the NSW Government’s announcement of a snap, seven-day lockdown for the NSW North Coast local government areas of Ballina, Byron, Lismore and Richmond Valley.

Anyone in the affected LGAs must stay at home unless they have a reasonable excuse to leave. The lockdown will continue until 12.01am on August 17, subject to COVID conditions.

"As a result of the lockdown announcement, the Lismore campus will remain closed and not re-open until 8am on Tuesday 17 August," said Mr Allan Morris, Vice President (Operations) at Southern Cross University.

The lockdown applies to anyone who has been in those LGAs on or since July 31.

Further, NSW Health advises no one can enter the Ballina, Byron, Lismore or Richmond Valley LGAs without a reasonable excuse to do so.

The only exceptions to the Lismore campus closure are the SCU Health Clinic GPs and Private Practitioners and the SCU Child Care Centre . Both will remain operating in order to deliver necessary services to the community (including our students and staff).

Student clinics at the SCU Health Clinic are cancelled for the duration of the lockdown.

All other buildings and services will be locked to student and staff card access.

A drive-through testing clinic is operating in the Lismore campus car park adjacent to the Security Gatehouse at the Military Road entrance. Hours of operation are 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
