Options Day event a must for those wanting to lock in 2021 study

Options Day is for anyone looking to pursue university in 2021, from top ATAR students, to those who didn’t quite achieve their desired Year 12 results, to those looking to change careers or the adventurers who took a gap year, and even those who didn’t complete high school.

There are many pathways to University, so Southern Cross University wants to give you the best information available about entry options to suit your situation.

Held on December 18 and 19, Options Day coincides with the release of Year 12 final results for students in NSW and Queensland, where webinar participants can get personalised advice and answers to questions.

For those who have an offer to study, there will be advisers to help with enrolment. Prospective students can also take a virtual tour of Southern Cross University campuses at Lismore, Gold Coast and Coffs Harbour. If there’s one final virtual event you should attend in 2020 – this is it!

For Southern Cross University student Katie Wainwright, she had researched which university she wanted to attend long before she finished grade 12.

As a top student who received the equivalent of a 99 ATAR, Katie chose to pursue a teaching career through studying education close at home at Southern Cross University’s Gold Coast campus.

“I’d researched lots of universities and I knew Southern Cross had a really good reputation for Education degrees, and that the Education courses include a useful foundation year that other universities don’t have. I’ve also recently discovered that Southern Cross is the only place to offer a qualification for both primary and secondary in one degree, and I think this option will benefit many Education students,” said Katie, who comes from a passionate family of teachers. 

“I wanted a quality education but at a smaller campus that feels more personal, and where I could take classes online but also easily access the campus when I needed to. There’s easy access to the library, academic assistance, technology services, and there’s great student support.

“Even though I wasn’t expecting all of our classes to go online this year, I’ve actually found it easy to handle, which solely comes down to how well Southern Cross delivers their online studies. Their online teaching systems were already more advanced than other universities so the transition to delivering everything online this year was really smooth.

“The teaching staff are really well qualified and supportive and do whatever they can to help students out. I’ve really enjoyed all my classes so far and I’m happy I made the decision to study at Southern Cross.”

Meanwhile for those who didn’t achieve the results they need to enter their desired course, or who previously didn’t complete year 12, Southern Cross also has a range of award-winning pathways programs including the fee-free Transition to Uni, which is offered over six weeks from January, so students who successfully complete it can still begin their degrees on time in Session 1, March 2021.
