Southern Cross University is calling for nominations for the 2016 Alumni of the Year Awards before applications close on Friday.

The Awards celebrate and recognise the achievements of SCU alumni across a range of endeavours.

SCU alumni relations manager Dan Sloan said the online application form was a simple five-minute process which would remain open for nominations until Friday 5pm.

“Our alumni are the best ambassadors for the University and we want to recognise their achievements,” Mr Sloan said.

“Alumni can self-nominate or consider nominating other worthy alumni.

“Anyone can nominate SCU alumni – friends, colleagues and family – as long as the nominee has graduated from SCU or one of our predecessor institutions.”

In 2015 the University acknowledged global restaurant industry leader Steve Layt as the Outstanding Alumnus of the Year and international gender equity specialist Kiri Dicker as the Young Alumnus of the Year.

All nominees must have a degree from SCU or a predecessor institution, demonstrate exceptional achievement in their field and outstanding service to their community or profession.

The Young Alumnus of the Year award is open to all SCU alumni 35 years and under.

Outstanding Alumnus of the Year, Young Alumnus of the Year and School Alumnus of the Year winners will be announced at a gala dinner on Friday September 9, 2016 at the Ramada Hotel in Ballina.
