‘Don’t panic’ is the advice to school leavers who will this week receive their Higher School Certificate results and UAI (Universities Admission Index).

Mr Peter Barnard, Southern Cross University Admissions Manager, said there were a range of options for students, even if they didn’t receive the UAI they were hoping for.

Southern Cross University has established a website and chat room to provide advice and information to students who have applied for a place at university next year.

The information includes the key dates for the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) and the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC), as well as information on changing preferences.

“No matter what UAI students receive we can provide advice and assistance on the best way of maximising their chance of getting an offer, or finding an alternative pathway for achieving their goal,” Mr Barnard said.

“We want to make sure all students have access to the information they need and have the opportunity to ask questions.”

The SCU website includes a chat room which will be open on Thursday, December 20. This will give students the opportunity to ask questions and receive replies in an interactive, real-time environment.

“This is a new service which will complement our existing telephone hotline and email enquiries,” Mr Barnard said.

HSC results are released at 6am on Wednesday, December 19, and the UAI will be available from 9am on Thursday, December 20. The UAC main round offers will be released on Thursday, January 17, and QTAC main rounds offers will be released on Friday, January 11.
