High demand for SCU courses

Southern Cross University (SCU) will make 1200 offers for places through the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) Main Round to be released on Monday, January 19.
Of those Main Round offers 897 are for Lismore, 242 for Coffs Harbour and 66 for the Tweed Heads campus.
SCU Admissions Manager, Mr Peter Barnard, said the total number of offers for SCU places to date was 4289, through UAC, Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) and direct application.
Of the total offers, 2406 are for places at the Lismore campus, 504 for the Coffs Harbour campus and 250 for Tweed Heads. Another 1129 are for external study.
Demand for SCU courses has increased right across the board, but particularly in Psychology, Nursing and Business.
First preferences for SCU through UAC were up six per cent and through QTAC up by 11 per cent. The overall increase in SCU applications through UAC was 16 per cent, compared to the same time last year, and 17 per cent through QTAC.
The courses with the greatest increase in first preference applications, are: Bachelor of Legal and Justice Studies - External; Bachelor of Human Movement Science; Bachelor of Social Science at the Tweed Gold Coast campus; Bachelor of Social Science - External; Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at the Coffs Harbour campus; Bachelor of Business at the Tweed Gold Coast campus; Bachelor of Business - External; and Bachelor of Nursing at Lismore and Coffs Harbour.
New courses in high demand are a Bachelor of Media, a Bachelor of Law (non-graduate entry), and a Bachelor of Environment Tourism Management.
UAC offers will be published in the Sydney Morning Herald, Daily Telegraph and Canberra Times on Monday, January 19.
