The way forward for indigenous policy will be the topic of a seminar to be given by Senator Aden Ridgeway at Southern Cross University's Coffs Harbour campus next week.

The talk, to be held on Thursday (28 August)at 12.30pm is part of the Doing Justice Seminar Series, organised by the Southern Cross University’s School of Social Sciences.

Senator Ridgeway, who is a member of the Gumbaynggirr nation, is the only indigenous member of the Federal Parliament and the Australian Democrat Senator for NSW.

Social Sciences lecturer, Anna Bloemhard, said the seminar series was designed to discuss issues and concerns that were of major interest to social welfare practitioners and policy makers in the Coffs Harbour region.

Ms Bloemhard said the series also provided a platform for local, regional and national speakers so that major current social welfare issues could be addressed.

“We want to strengthen links between the university and community organisations and provide an opportunity for greater contact between community organisations.”

The seminar will be held in the main lecture theatre at the Coffs Harbour campus from 12.30pm to 2pm.
