Southern Cross University's School of Tourism and Hospitality Management has secured Coffs Harbour as the location for the next annual Council for Australian University Tourism and Hospitality Education (CAUTHE) conference.
The Head of SCU's School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Mr. Perry Hobson, said that some 300 delegates from around Australia and internationally would be attracted to the Coffs Harbour conference scheduled for February 2003.
"The annual event is the primary meeting for tourism and hospitality educators and researchers from universities around Australia," Mr. Hobson said. "The conference promotes and exchanges the excellent research on tourism and hospitality management which is coming out of Australian universities."
He said a team of six key organisers from SCU's School of Tourism and Hospitality Management would manage CAUTHE 2003, looking after program and speaker coordination, social program organisation and marketing of the event.
"Our School has a strong national and international profile in tourism and hospitality research and education. It is a recent winner of the Australian Tourism Award for industry education, and a three-time winner of the NSW Tourism Award for industry education," Mr. Hobson added.
The School of Tourism and Hospitality Management organised an earlier CAUTHE conference, at Coffs Harbour in February 1996, with the event and location being praised by the University community across Australia.
The 2003 CAUTHE conference will be held at Coff Harbour's All Seasons Premier Pacific Bay Resort, which has new conference facilities, from February 5 - 8, 2003.
