SCU warns of O-Week traffic problems

Southern Cross University has issued a warning to students and other local motorists about likely traffic congestion on the roads around the Lismore campus over the next two weeks, especially during Orientation Week which starts on Monday, 19 February.

Roadworks being conducted by Lismore City Council will be minimised during peak hours, while ongoing improvements to the SCU main entrance and carparks are nearing completion. However the approach roads of Cynthia Wilson Drive, Dalley Street and Military Road are expected to be crowded and to cause delays to motorists.

If people are using this part of East Lismore as a route to town, they are encouraged to seek an alternative approach, particularly in the mornings, SCU advised.

1655 new students will have their first taste of tertiary education from next Monday when O-Week kicks off at Southern Cross University's Lismore campus. The first semester starts the following week and runs until mid-June.

During O-Week new students will receive detailed information about their chosen courses, the University in general, including the activities of the Students' Union and the Student Representative Council, and a range of information about Lismore and the surrounding area. They will also be invited to enjoy entertainment and other events being staged by various student-run clubs and organisations.
