After hours swipe access at SCU Library
After hours swipe access at the Gold Coast and Lismore Libraries for SCU students and staff
SCU staff and students can enable after hours swipe access to the following library spaces outside core staffed hours:
- Gold Coast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Lismore 7am – 6pm weekdays / 10am – 6pm weekends
- Please note: Lismore swipe access will not be available from the 20th Dec 5pm until the 2nd Jan 7am
In order to access the library spaces after hours, students must complete the newly developed Respect@SCU module to utilise library spaces after hours.
The Respect@SCU module is designed to cultivate an understanding of respectful behaviour within the Southern Cross University community, fostering an inclusive and diverse campus culture. It addresses various expectations and responsibilities for SCU students, including community engagement, alcohol consumption, bystander intervention, affirmative consent, safer sex practices, safe online relationship engagement, and avenues for seeking support both at SCU and in the wider community.
Accessible through MySCU, the module can be located in the Self Help Hub, the FYI Module, or directly here. You may need to allow pop-ups from https://learn.scu.edu.au.
Given that the module typically takes between 1 and 2 hours to complete, we encourage students to commence the process as soon as possible to avoid interruptions to their class schedules. Due to the size of the content it is recommended that the module is completed from a computer.
After completing the Respect at SCU module, students must download a completion certificate for their records. Students are required to visit Campus Security and present their Respect@SCU completion certificate to activate after hours swipe access to the library.
For any issues with the Respect@SCU module please contact studentsafety@scu.edu.au for assistance.
SCU staff can use their staff cards to access the Gold Coast and Lismore libraries after hours. Please contact security if your card is not working.
