Project Summary: This project involves critical discussions between consumer/lived experience academics and SCU academics from nursing, occupational therapy and social work. The discussions centre around the question “what steps does the mental health and psychosocial wellbeing research theme need to take to move towards co-production?” The outcomes of this project will contribute to the knowledge base for meaningful involvement of consumers in mental health research, and provide some guidance for the research theme to move towards co-production.

Project Summary: Systematic reviews: In order to meet the initial goals of the MHPW research theme we will undertake three separate systematic reviews in 2023. ECR, MCR and HDR researchers are invited to take part in at least one of the reviews with partners being sought from the Manna Institute. The three broad areas being addressed are de-prescribing, the natural environment and mental health workforce.

Safe Steps: Testing a nurse-led therapeutic intervention to reduce aggression and restrictive practice in acute mental health facilities

Project Summary: Across two Local Health Districts, this research will trial a co-designed intervention that aims to enhance nurses' therapeutic capabilities in de-escalation and reduce seclusion and other restrictive practices.
