UniLife provides you with an opportunity to be active and get involved in a number of sport, recreation, and fitness programs where you can mix with other students and staff at Southern Cross University, and even across other universities.
These activities and programs are generally provided as a low-cost activity and are support by your Student Services and Amenities Fee.
Campus Social Sport program
Get involved with campus social sports and meet new friends whilst staying active. All social sports are available to all SCU students and staff members and cater to all skill levels and abilities.
All equipment is provided, and a supervised coach or facilitator will be onsite to show you the ropes; all you need to do is turn up and get involved! Discover what's on at your campus below.
No registration is required for the Coffs Harbour campus.

UniSport Australia competitions
Are you a competitive person who loves sport?
You've come to the right spot!
UniSport Australia is the national governing body for university sport in Australia and runs national sporting championships for all universities in Australia. These sports include everything from Basketball & Netball to Athletics & Swimming to Judo & Surfing.
Southern Cross University is one of the smallest universities to compete in these competitions and we do pretty well! Our Surfing team is currently ranked #1 in all of Australia in both the Men's and Women's competitions.

Intervarsity competitions & events
Not quite ready for a national level competition?
Test your skills at the intervarsity level with many of the inter-university clashes that are on offer each year!
Team SCU competes in regular intervarsity clashes with local rivals Bond University and Griffith University in sports like Touch Football, Basketball, Netball, and Football.
This is a great way to meet new friends, participate in friendly competition, and prepare for a UniSport national competition.
In 2025, Team SCU will look to expand this competition to a creative industries competition, so stay tuned.

Community Sport & Recreation events
Looking for a challenge or just want to be part of a great community?
Team SCU is an active member of many community sport and recreation events that encourage healthy and active lifestyles and fosters an inclusive and enjoyable community. These events include the Gold Coast Marathon, Coffs Harbour Running Festival, Darrell Chapman Fun Run, and more!
Participation is open to all Southern Cross University students, staff members, gym members, and alumni. Each event caters for a range of abilities, skills, and fitness levels from elite right through to beginner. Team SCU also has close partnerships with the SCU Fitness Centre & Pool whom are able to provide training plans to get event ready.
If you're not confident in joining in yet, don't fret! Participation in these community events can be through other means such as volunteering for the event or even being part of the Team SCU support crew to cheer on fellow SCU peers.
