Lismore Campus Master Plan
Our bold new vision for the Southern Cross Learning Precinct
Connected, sustainable, visionary: the Southern Cross Learning Precinct (Gnibi Wandarahn) Master Plan will transform our Lismore campus into a thriving education, research and community precinct.
Launched in 2024, the Master Plan is a $140 million redevelopment that caters for learning at all stages of life. Refurbished university teaching spaces will sit alongside a state-of-the-art research hub and new cultural spaces that provide inspiration and connectivity for our Northern Rivers community.
Gnibi Wandarahn translated in Bundjalung language means Southern Cross Place of Learning. The redeveloped Lismore campus will be a place of learning for generations to come based on sustainable design principles and a thoughtful re-use of our existing infrastructure that will see the campus become carbon net zero by 2035.

Tyrone Carlin: It's about a transformation of the way that we view and indeed live and work in this campus and in its surrounds. Gnibi Wandarahn can be reflected as Southern Cross Learning Place and that's what we are. We've been that since our inception that we're going to do that on a broader canvas in a different.
This is about a vision for how we work together with our community as we go forward. It's about how we integrate school education with post school education. It's about how we draw together the range of support services, the range of community facilities that really bring a vibrancy. This should be understood very much as a declaration of our intent to continue to do great things here in Lismore, indeed to do more great things here in Lismore. What we do here is genuinely world class.
This is about ambition. It's about our DNA as an institution but fundamentally it's about our deep commitment and connection to our community. As we go forward we will experience something unique here, something that I think will be a beacon for other communities and other institutions to reflect on and I'm really really excited about that.
