Murray d’Almeida is the Deputy Chancellor of Southern Cross University.
Murray d'Almeida founded Retail Food Group Australia and co-founded Donut King. He began his career with a firm of Chartered Accountants in Perth, and later moved to commercial accounting with two USA based mining companies. He has extensive experience in the franchise industry with specific emphasis on the food retailing sector. He has also been involved in the restaurant, wholesaling, farming and liquor industries. He is extensively involved in food importation and distribution.
Murray is a Director of Bartercard International PLC and Hyperion Asset Management Limited. He serves as the Chairman of The Institute of Business Leaders Ltd and has been the Chairman of the Board of Environmental Solutions International Ltd since 2006. He serves as a Non-Executive Chairman and Director of Bartercard Australia Pty Ltd and Chairman of the Federal Government's Area Consultative Committee for the Gold Coast area of QLD.
Murray also serves as the Chairman of the Gold Coast Rugby Ltd, is a member of the firm's Regional Economic Development Advisory Board, and is a member of the Griffith University Business School Advisory Board. He has held a variety of non-executive positions with the Queensland Branch of the Liberal Party of Australia, both as a member of the Finance Committee and the Queensland State Executive. He has held previous positions as Independent Non-Executive Chairman and Director of Allied Brands Ltd since 2006 and of ECT Ltd, Director of Bartercard PLC since 2005, Golden Pacific Resources Ltd, Capricorn Resources NL, Queensland Rugby Union, Australian Small Business Association, and Franchisors' Association of Australia and New Zealand. He serves as a Director at Beacon Hill Resources PLC (dual listed on the AIM and ASX). Murray qualified as an accountant in Perth, WA and is an FAICD Holder.
