Research
Dr Ed Nignpense's research began with his Honours dissertation, which explored the potential of polyphenols—natural antioxidants—to influence cardiovascular health by modulating key biomarkers, including platelet function and microparticle generation.
His PhD research expanded on this, investigating the bioaccessibility and bioavailability of polyphenols through in vitro cellular models and human trials, providing valuable insights into how these compounds function within the human body. His research has led to a track record of Q1 publications. Currently, his research interests focus on the bioavailability and medicinal effects of bioactive compounds in natural products, intending to uncover their potential to improve human health. His research has significant real-world implications, particularly in developing dietary supplements or functional foods to prevent or manage chronic inflammatory conditions.
