Biography
Mark is a published insolvency, corporate and commercial law academic. Before moving to the higher education sector, Mark practised as a senior insolvency lawyer with leading law firms in Australia and the UK (including as Senior Associate of King & Wood Mallesons).
Mark is an academic member and former Legal Director of ARITA, Australia's peak professional association for insolvency practitioners. Mark is a member of The Law Council of Australia's Insolvency & Restructuring Committee and sits as a Ministerial appointee on statutory committees (convened by AFSA under the Bankruptcy Act) to consider applications for registration as a bankruptcy trustee.
Research
Mark’s researched submissions were cited in the final reports of the statutory “Review of the Insolvent Trading Safe Harbour” (2021) and the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Corporations and Financial Services Inquiry into “Corporate Insolvency in Australia” (2023). Mark's professional experience and engagement inform his approach to research. Mark is passionate about publishing research that is practically relevant to the profession and other stakeholders in broader law reform debates.
