Biography
Carla’s overarching research and teaching focus on topics of Social Learning Strategies in Physical Education Teacher Education. Carla completed a PhD at the Faculty of Sport, University of Porto, in 2022. Over the past five years, she has focused her studies on understanding the role of social learning strategies, such as Communities of Practice, in the professional development of Physical Education Pre-service teachers through an ethnographic approach. Specifically, her research aims to uncover how these strategies are being implemented in teacher education programs and how they contribute to the learning and implementation of student-centered approaches.
Carla’s line of research is underpinned by Student-centred pedagogy and Social Learning Theory. She has a publication track record in collaboration with researchers from all over the globe (Portugal, Spain, and Australia) in peer-reviewed journals and papers for international conferences.
Carla is interested in supervising or co-supervising postgraduate students interested in HPE and sport pedagogy, ethnographic research, and qualitative social studies.
