Biography
Dr Jodie Cochrane Wilkie's areas of expertise include elite sport science, musculoskeletal injury prevention/rehabilitation, biomechanics, and exercise physiology for those with clinical conditions or movement difficulty. Jodie aims to understand how we move, so that we can optimise human movement and function across the spectrum of children to adults, from the clinical setting (e.g., paediatric oncology) to elite sport. Through her passion for teaching, she hopes to inspire students to learn and nurture their growth and development and also develop new initiatives and opportunities for students throughout their degree and beyond.
Research
Jodie's work and research has focused on optimising or regaining movement and function. Previous work in this area had focused on developing athletes and elite athletes and optimising their movement, minimising injury or rehabilitating in return from injury so they could be the best in their sport (in preparation for World Championships, Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games). In recent years her work in optimising or regaining human movement and function has focussed on working with those with clinical conditions, injury or children to help them to move better and increase their function, physical activity, quality of life and long-term health. Jodie has also had a particular focus on children with cancer, neuromuscular and neurological conditions.
