Biography

Madeleine Mill is an experienced Registered Nurse with expertise in emergency, intensive care, and higher education. As a passionate nurse educator and early career researcher, Madeleine's work is informed by a feminist philosophy, emphasising equity, empowerment, and inclusion. This perspective drives her commitment to fostering meaningful change in education and healthcare and informs her exploration of future PhD studies.

Research

Madeleine's research interests align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Her research goals focus on addressing critical issues such as workplace violence and gender equality within healthcare contexts.

Teaching

As the Unit Assessor for Foundations of Health Assessment, Madeleine oversees the only first-year clinical unit in the Bachelor of Nursing program. This foundational course introduces students to the scientific principles underlying human body functions, systematic nursing assessments, and safe medication administration. Students gain essential knowledge and practical skills to collect and interpret clinical data systematically, enabling safe and effective decision-making.

Through hands-on practice in nursing laboratory sessions, interactive online activities, and a 120-hour clinical placement, students develop confidence and competence in conducting evidence-based, system-focused nursing assessments. In addition to her leadership in this unit, Madeleine teaches across a range of nursing programs, including the Bachelor of Nursing, the Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse pathway, and the Master of Nursing. Her dedication to student success and innovative teaching methods ensures graduates are prepared for the dynamic and complex demands of modern healthcare.
