I am the Work Integrated Learning Academic Coordinator (WILAC) for the osteopathy discipline, where I contribute to developing and implementing innovative and impactful learning experiences for students. With a strong foundation as a Teaching Scholar, I focus on fostering student engagement, enhancing clinical competencies, and integrating evidence-based practice into the curriculum.
My academic and professional expertise is grounded in over 15 years of experience managing and operating a multidisciplinary allied health clinic. This hands-on experience informs my teaching philosophy, emphasising patient-centred care, interprofessional collaboration, and real-world clinical application. I am passionate about equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to transition seamlessly into professional practice while maintaining a focus on ethical, effective, and holistic care.
As WILAC, I oversee the coordination of clinical placements, ensuring alignment with industry standards and contemporary best practices. I work closely with clinical supervisors, industry partners, and students to create a supportive learning environment that bridges the gap between academic knowledge and practical application. My approach incorporates mentorship, critical thinking, and reflective practice, enabling students to develop the confidence and competence needed to excel as osteopaths.
As a Teaching Scholar, I actively engage in research and scholarship in teaching and learning, with a specific interest in interprofessional education (IPE). I aim to contribute to advancing the osteopathy profession by driving innovation in education and advocating for a collaborative approach to healthcare delivery.
I am also dedicated to professional development and ongoing improvement for myself and my students as we navigate the evolving landscape of healthcare and education together.
