Biography
Mandy Shircore is an experienced academic and legal practitioner who joined SCU Law in 2022. Prior to SCU, Mandy held positions as the Director of Pro Bono Centre (UQ), academic and Head of Law (JCU) and has worked as a legal practitioner in the private and public sector.
Research
Mandy's research interests include torts law in particular negligence, where she has explored the duty of care owed by public authorities (the police). She also undertakes research in health law and legal education generally.

With a strong commitment to enhancing access to justice, Mandy has worked with the community legal sector for over thirty years in a variety of capacities including as solicitor (volunteer and employed), clinical legal educator and management committee member.
Awards
Mandy has received a number of awards for excellence in teaching and learning. She was named as an inspirational academic by the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland (WLAQ Inspo List) in 2019, 2020, 2021. She has been a recipient of the Toni Dick Memorial Prize for outstanding community service.
