Biography
Alicia joined Southern Cross University in 2015 with a wealth of teaching experience in educational contexts ranging from early childhood education and care settings, primary schools and tertiary education. Alicia is the Course Coordinator of the early childhood courses.
Research
Alicia’s research focuses on quality early childhood education and care (ECEC) both in Australia and internationally. She is particularly interested in factors that can enhance or diminish quality ECEC, such as government regulation and quality assurance mechanisms, initial teacher education programs, the early childhood workforce, COVID-19, and educator, child and family wellbeing.
Supervision
Alicia is available to supervise Honours, Masters and PhD students.
Teaching
Alicia teaches in several units across the early childhood programs. She is particularly passionate about teaching the early childhood professional experience units and supporting students to achieve success in their practical placements. Alicia was awarded a SCU teaching excellence award in 2020.
